Posting iMac Images to CR4

05/07/2009 7:18 AM

I have not had any success posting anything but text on CR4. I get a message window to post in (I'm using it now) but there doesn't appear to be any way to insert images, etc. Below the window I'm typing in there are a bunch of html formatting tags followed by the "Select Forum for Forum Thread" window. I tried to copy and paste a snap shot of what I see here but pasting to this window does not work either. I'm have the latest version of Safari. Any other imac users having this problem? Any ideas on what I can try. Thanks, Bob

Above the text window is a green graphic that looks a bit like a camera on the top. Click on the button, and a dialogue box comes up asking for the file name for the image to be added. was added by putting in the filename and pressing Submit.

I don't have a camera icon or any other icons above the text box. I know what you are speaking of however as in my search of CR4 I saw a pasted image of the "normal" CR4 posting page (as posted by someone else.)

If all you get is identical looking icons, the editor has partially loaded. It might be interesting to see what happened if you click on 7th from left. Probably wont work, but you never know. Stranger things have happened here !

As Chris said, your best bet might be to use Firefox.

CR4 does not have a toolbar if you are using Safari.

Download and install Firefox. Suddenly you have a toolbar, and can follow the directions given...

I am now using Firefox and it seems to work fine with CR4. Thanks.

With my famed psychic ability, I anticipated your question.......the word from upon high is thus, http://cr4.globalspec.com/comment/387087/Re-CR4-Editor-Not-Chris-the-other-one

Yes, I know, you want to click the button and rate my reply as "Good Answer". If the required pop-up window doesn't' work, then, trust me, you shall have no peace until the matter is resolved.

Okay thanks Kris, that answers the questions for sure. Thought I wasn't doing something that I was supposed to do. Will give Firefox a whirl later.

I'd like to propose an experiment to get around this Safari / Chrome image posting issue. Try copying and pasting the following link into a new post and see if it works:

I believe the Safari and Chrome editors should support html formatting tags. If it works, this image should show up:

3doug... image didn't work, as you can see from the above posting. As another experiment I will use html for bold in the line below to see if it works. Btw the "line below" may not be below in the ultimate post. this is a bold test using safari browser in CR4

Oh, well, it was worth a shot. Thanks for trying. At least we learned something - that it wouldn't work.

Maybe the simplest fix would be for the standard CR4 comment editor to include support for all the html tags, if doing so would make the editor independent of the browser.
