Wind Swept Area of Lenz Turbine

06/03/2009 9:27 AM

i have created a lenz turbine

i am still making the generator but i wanted to know how much wind swept area i have so i know what to expect for out put

you can see some of the 3-d models here http://thewindpowercorp.com/

please no comments on how the web site is not finished yet i know, i know

design is going into its paten pending status all work copyright property of wind power inc Miami fl

the size of the turbine is this

length of each sail from top to bottom is 9 feet 6 inches

distance from center or radius of turning circle is 3 feet or 36 inches

using the lenz formula found online the total width of the sails is 28 inches

the radius diameter of the curve in the sail is 11 inches

the offset is 9 degrees

each individual sail has almost 20 square feet of canvas so do i count all (3 per turbine)the sails or just one

i don't know/cant find the formula or method for the wind swept area of a / for a lenz turbine

i have two of these turning one generator so what is my peak out put possible at 10,20, and 30 mph wind speed?

Try mine!

Using sail draft as an inertial build up from small sail pair to middle to bigger. I think this could be found on a Miami or Hollywood palace in the future!

it is so good that so many of you have helped out here, ask a question that you cant look up the answer in book and all the engineer's just hide their heads in the sand!
