Aluminium Alloy

06/13/2009 6:49 AM

Please suggest me aluminium alloy ( for tray size 600mm x600mmx3mm) which can withstand 200 deg Celsius temperature continous for 6 hours. Otherwise suggest any other alloy having low density than steel ( light weight, high strenght & thermal stabilty).

Thanks & regards

Sachin

There must be more to this question than you've posted. I use an aluminum cooking tray at that temperature all the time. It's gotta be close to 40 years old and still doing fine.

I can't think of an alloy that wouldn't stand up to that.

Titanium is very $trong and light, if Al doesn't suit your needs.

The aluminum tray is for home appliances (oven)? If that's the case I don't see problems because the load level is very low and regardless the specific Al-alloy and temper grade it must be enough to this service conditions.

A different problem would be for a higher stress load case. In that case the Al-alloy must be carefully selected in order to avoid decreasing strength due to service temperature.

Kind regards
