PDS mean Product Design specification.

Such a thing would give the constraints within which the solution is to appear. For example:

• Maximum weight 59kg
• Minimum length 125mm
• Maximum heat dissipation 23W
• Wiring to British Standard 7671
• Must have air-operated plug doors
• etc.
