Windows Xp

06/20/2009 9:03 AM

Hi to all.

I am looking for help to do the following modification:

Once I turn my computer on , Windows starts with screen asking to "Log on " by clicking on the user name.

I would like to bypass this step( let Windows to continue without log on)

Thanks for help

Pretty sure (from memory here) that the log on becomes active after entering a second user name.

Deleting users WILL result in loss of data under those profiles, so I'd do some research on whether this even works before trying it.

Thanks edignan, it works now - it goes direct to the desktop once i turn the computer on.

The next step is to run a program automatically ( which has icon on the desktop screen) once i turn the computer on ( without clicking on its icon)

Thanks again

ROFL !

You've really go to get yourself a "Usual disclaimers" tag-line

Zacky : Did you just dive in and do it ? Way to go ! I love doing that kind of thing, but you've got to make sure you can roll with the **** if it goes wrong. 'Suck it and see' is great, but you've got to weigh up the risks before you tweak stuff on the basis of only 1 info source. I'm not dissing edignan's advice, just making a generalized comment.

LOL

I put in a bid for re-branding ages ago. Did it several times in fact, including in a thread where Chris L was. A few of my alternatives are unpostable, but 'Get's Up Reet Urly' sort of works. In one of my wittier moments I suggested that internet should be taken with caution thus; "If somebody calling themselves Stephen Hawking offered me advice on the net, I wouldn't' trust them any more than I'd trust them to milk the cat". Can't remember the post exactly, but it's out there somewhere.

It's strange how many people get confused by the meaning of member titles/GA count. Folk have got to look out for that themselves really. The principles aren't any different with checking stuff in 'real' life. Next time I swap my signature line maybe I'll try think of something apt. he heh hehehehhehehhe !

If you have a folder marked 'startup' on the program menu, maybe you can drag and drop the shortcut to it ? I dunno as I've never tried it. There's probably better ways. How about checking google with " XP adding a startup entry"?

Try "Tweak UI XP" freeware. It allows you to autoload a logon and much more.

If you have only one user, just remove the password, or check this thread out: http://cr4.globalspec.com/thread/33751
