Top Supported Boilers

Hi, can you explain the concept and logic behind fixing of fixed (zero expansion)point in top supported boilers,how to find out it.is there any calculation for that?

Put a few changes of direction in the pipework and there will be no need to calculate it, for the changes in direction will take up any movement due to expansion.
