The easiest way to construct a green house is to paint the entire house green, inside and outside .

Madhav, welcome to Cr4.

Beware those who represent the dark side of the force!

Just to clarify, terminology, Green House is the way we describe glass buildings for growing crops year round here in North America:

If You mean A house that minimizes its environmental costs and consequences, I would offer the following:

1) Method will be of quality workmanship to assure minimum waste, and proper use and deployment of materials;

2) Materialswill be as per design based on site, local conditions, and site specific issues to be solved; In my humble opinion, Thermal mass will be insidethe superinsulated house rather than outside to minimize need for fuel supplied heat.

3) The layout and siting will be optimized to maximize the use of incident energy/ avoid unwanted solar gain seasonally by minimum energy consumptive means. Earthen berms, earth shelter, geothermal energy are typical strategies in North America in my area in Ohio. (My office has earthen berms, Large windows for passive solar gain and uses a heat pump)

4) In some cases, Such a house would have the means to be relatively self sufficient in enrgy by use of solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, passive solar, or wind generators on site, with some means of limited storage.

In other areas use of rammed earth, stucco covered straw bales, and other materials can be considered to be "green" in that they make use of locally available materials with minimum use of fossil fuels to manufacture.

The term "Green" unfortunately is a semantic trigger for many of us because of its political baggage.

As engineers, "Energy efficient," or "minimum environmental impact" are terms that we understand to be "objective" compared to "green" which to us at best is an ill defined marketing term or at worst an adjective describing a cult of enviroterrorists.

I sense in your post a determination to build responsibly, and hope that my response is helpful.

Welcome to CR4.

GA . As Yoda said to me many times : "When in doubt you are, state clearly the problem you must, or correct answer you may not receive. "

As for the disturbance in the Force that you sense, that's pretty normal . Mace Windu always said that I'm the biggest disturbance in the Force that he's ever met .

This one is built of cast iron and glass.

It is at Kew Gardens, on the SW corner of central London.

Proof that even Brittle Materials can be beautifully functional.
