Generating Electricity with a Magnifying Glass?

i've been thinking whether it's possible to generate electricity by the of magnifying glass

You can certainly use a magnifying glass to focus the energy of the light onto a solar cell, or the heat energy of the light on to a steam pipe. This is commonly done, but by using mirrors rather than lenses.

You can do a lot of things with a Fresnel lens - but be careful and dont leave the lens lying around. This is a demo of motive power using the Fresnel.
