Leadless Chip - Can anyone identify from these pics?

06/26/2009 10:43 PM

Hi Everyone,

I believe this came from my old cell phone; a Motorola V60i. I have searched high and low, but can find no datasheet or even find the part. The number on the front is TMX M360:

Here's a pic of the back if it helps:

Dimensions are 11.5mm Long x 5mm Wide x 1.8mm Thick.

I think it may be an accelerometer or other MEMS device. If anyone knows what this, please let me know, or else it will be kept until I know what it is or I die.

Thanks,

Mike

It's a quartz clock oscillator chip.

It`s no quartz oscillator - these devices have usually 4 pins (VCC, GND, EN, OUT) and no such package.

These packages are used for SAW-Filters in the MHz or GHz-Range. The 3 pins on each long side are ground, the 2 pins on the other side are +in, -in and +out, -out.

Don`t know which frequency.

Regards Uwe

SAW (surface acoustic wave) filters are electromechanical devices commonly used in radio frequency applications. Electrical signals are converted to a mechanical wave in a piezoelectric crystal; this wave is delayed as it propagates across the crystal, before being converted back to an electrical signal by further electrodes. The delayed outputs are recombined to produce a direct analog implementation of a finite impulse response filter. This hybrid filtering technique is also found in an analog sampled filter. SAW filters are limited to frequencies up to 3GHz.

I think it's a SAW filter from my army radio class.

uweka, kudukdweller9, and Kenneth Leigh,

Thanks so much for the replies! I didn't think I would get a response, let alone good answers. Since you three concur on the ID of this device, I will proceed accordingly; find out as much as I can about them and use it if I can.

Again, Thanks!

Mike

Made by TEMEX or TEMEXPRESS

http://temexpress.com/en/saw_filters.html

I hate it when people put a number on their devices which you can't find when you go to their website.

Manufacturers often have contracts with vendors that require proprietary part numbers on the parts that goes into their products. The part number is often a specification document number.
