boiling pot vs tube boiler

06/27/2009 9:13 PM

generally, how efficiently can a gas flame boil water in a cooking pot that is well insulated? cause I have no idea

I am also looking for a therodynamic course, or computer simulation program, if you would please direct me.

If it was perfectly insulated, it would never boil.

If however it has a bottom that is not insulated and an upper shell that is insulated, it might boil a little faster that an uninsulated one.

I say that because with a gas flame we add a large amount of energy and it reaches the boiling point so rapidly that it might only radiate ~~?5% of the input energy on the way up = all you can save.

once we boil you have a steady state with boil off and fully steam heated walls wetted with condensing steam = 100% of energy now wasted .

Check out the Wikipedia article on calorimetry.

Hello buzneq,

You title your thread "Boiling pot vs tube boiler", But do not mention a tube boiler in the main post.?

A tube boiler is exactly the same as a 'balanced boiler' I think it is called. It boils or more correctly heats water on demand. Much more efficient than say boiling water in a pan, any kind of pan. I would recommend this type of boiler to you.
