Equivalent of Nichrome V Superalloy

06/30/2009 2:11 PM

I am looking to find something equivalent in the US to the superalloy in the subject line, available in sheet (not wire). I am trying to build a HT muffle with the working temperature as high as 2230 F. Nitrogen flows through, but on the outside is exposed to air. Please help.

Try: http://www.kencoa.com/aerospace/company.htm

getting Nichrome V in sheet form may be difficult - strip would be easier.

Thank you. However, I need sheet. I know there is a minimal chance to get Nichrome V, that's why I was looking for a replacement.

I don't know that there IS an equivalent sheet spec. the three AMS spec's I've found referenced (but I have no info on them) are AMS 5682, AMS 5676 and AMS 5677. AMS 5676 and 5677 appear to be welding electrodes.

the approximate chemical composition would appear to be .3C-1Co-20Cr-1Fe-1Mn-.3Si-BalanceNi

I'm not finding an exact match, but here are the alloys Special Metals sells for high temp service. If you contact them, I'm sure they can make a recommendation of a subsititute.

Bingo! just found a similar alloy

Incotherm TD. it was originally developed for high temp thermocouple sheathing but has since been developed for other uses, but I don't know if it is availabe as a sheet form though....
