I promised myself a nice scream when somebody ask a question about 11 again.

Turn down your volume.

SCREEEEEAAAAM

Why would you want to use another voltage and render a lot of transformers useless?

At least he has limited himself to 11 (and not gone into multiples of it )

I guess it since it is the first number of the second decade or may be it looks like a pipe or a conduit for the energy flow or ...

Ask yourself r e a l l y slowly, "what is wrong with the number eleven?" The number could be anything you want, it just happens to be that one and another one.

In Canada we have over 20 different AC voltages for commercial use. In Alberta province here are some... 13/26V, 120/240V, 120/208V, 220/480V, 220/380V, 277/480V, 347/600V, 2400/4160V, 4160/7200V, 4600/8000V, 8/13.8kV, 8.3/14.4kV, 14.4/25kV, 19.6/34kV, 40/69kV, 42/72kV, 80/138kV, 138/240kV, 290/500kV...! OK I'm missing one, pick any number then ask, "why?". Cause, "that's just the f---ing way it is!!", quote from an old friend. Gheers

It is better to have a standard voltage range for easy to control and easy for our maintenance guy to handle it. What the used if we have too many different type of voltages and we need different type of VCB to control the voltages, different type of contactor, relay, transformers and e.t.c.

Later down the road the maintenance cost will also increase, spare cost increase and e.t.c

Down here we have 110Vac, 220Vac, 660Vac, 3.3KV, 11KV, 33KV and 132KV. With the new project is going on another range of voltage is added to it. That is 10KV.

Volts are always overrated - go for the amps instead, (more bang for your buck). Watt out - WARNING 11,000 OHMS
