Wireless card not recognised

08/28/2009 9:25 AM

Hi. Today, I decided to move my room around. I turned my pc off, turned the PSU off and then removed the plug. I proceeded to move my desk around, then once everything was plugged back in, my wireless card was suddenly not recognised. I tried a system restore, un-installing and installing the driver and swapping PCI slots. Nothing seemed to work. I then put the card back in the original PCI, and then my wireless internet worked fine (hence I can post this). Does anybody know why this may have happened, and how to prevent it?

Hi, Bondy, glad your system came back to life. Maybe it was just a loose connection somewhere. I sympathize with your concern about prevention but it's hard to diagnose something that's no longer broke.

If it's any consolation, my old (5-years) homebuilt system does stuff like that sometimes. Until I get enough disposable $$$ to buy a new system, I just keep blowing the dust out and reseating the cards and it keeps coming back to life. Kinda like my cat. She can't count too well and has used more than her allotted number of lives. :)

Regards,

Logan

Aww. Poor cat. My system is only 4 months old though. Never mind though... I will say again when it does it again...

Ah, I think I wasn't clear about the cat and her lives. She's still going strong but by my calculations she should be currently on life #12. I think she's borrowing them from somewhere...

Sure, let us know if it messes up again. I don't know a whole lot but sometimes I get something right.

I have a scanner that loses its driver when turning off power to it so I leave it on.
