HELP! - Lost posting about inch being legally redefined

08/28/2009 10:02 PM

A recient batch of responses about the "inch' being legally redefined was interesting and I thought I archived a link to it. I can't find it and it is driving me crazy. I don't have a clue what the prime topic of the posting was, but within the responses were some facts and opinions about the inch to mm conversion. It was interesting that someone seems to have stated that surveyors currently use a different "inch" than the rest of us.

It does not seem to be the "NASA Switch to Metric" story, the "Problems With Pi" story, or anything else that I can find in my history.

Years ago I got a bit upset when I needed to do some accurate calculations and I found three different definitions for "nautical mile". This is similar issue and I wanted to click on the references that were given.

Please help,

Thanks,

Bruce

Unfortunately, the most recent reference I could find in that article was 1959. I don't believe that is what the OP would consider 'recent'.

Hello BruceFlorida,

This is a wild card, but is it this thread you referred to?

>>> http://cr4.globalspec.com/thread/39228#newcomments <<<

Are you sure it was on CR4? And have you tried to search?

How long ago was it a month, a year?

Hello BF,

Is this the thread?

>>> http://cr4.globalspec.com/comment/68631 <<<

BTW, You can easily search CR4. I search for definition of an inch and it came back with quite a lot of threads which you could look through?

On the right there is two small address boxes, one is: "Search this Forum", the other is: "Search all CR4", they are on the right just above the "CR4 Sections list.

Hope this helps. Let me know please, as it is bugging me know! ;=)

The length of the foot should change to the size of the current president of the USAs' foot :) It would open up a whole new world of speculative trading..

Buy length when the foot is large and sell when it is short :)
