Motor Insulation for Megger Testing

hi!.I'm a electrical eng'g student from Philippines.How many ohms is a good insulation when megger testing a motor with a megger tester range set at 1000V..?thanks..

As per IEEE, it is 100 Mohms at 40 deg C for medium voltage motors and 5 Mohms at 40 deg C for low voltage motors.

Try to calculate the polarization index and Dielectric Absorption Ration for you to evaluate the resistance reading of the motor. It doesnt mean that if you obtain the minimum insulation resistance the motor insulation is good.

Exactly.

Try a google search for polarisation index, you will find some good articles. Once you understand please spread the word.

The great thing about polarisation is its ability to detect moist insulation and then measure your effectiveness at drying it out.
