Suppliers of Desiccant Dehumidification Units

09/17/2009 4:59 AM

Hello,

We are trying to find a company that can build a desiccant dehumidifier that works on 70 DegC waste heat from our industrial processes. The principle is that if we dry the fresh air before it enters the cooling coil of our air-handling units, we would save energy because a large part of the cooling required to remove the moisture from the fresh air will be saved. The equipment will employ three circuits.

1. The fresh air being pulled by the AHUs passes through a filter and a desiccant wheel. It loses moisture and increases in temperature. This air then passes through an air to air heat exchanger to reduce its temperature again.

2. The other side of this heat exchanger uses ambient air that passes through a filter, and an adiabatic humidifier to cool down by evaporation. It then moves through the heat exchanger from where it is exhausted. The adiabatic humidifier can consist of both fogger and fan combined in one unit.

3. The desiccant wheel is regenerated by a flow of hot air coming from our processes.

We have found several suppliers of individual items, but hardly anyone who can design and build the whole system. if you know a company kindly let us know. Thanks.

Things would be easier to tell you if we knew where you are. Things become cost prohibitive and/or time prohibitive when using ocean freight or air freight. However, having said that, when you need the process, you do what you need to do. Munters has served me extremely well here in the USA. Find a distributor who will engineer the system to meet your needs. It gets complicated dealing with the grains of water to remove, the desired output temperature, the maximum moisture content in worst case days, flow rates, & desiccant inefficiencies, etc, but a good distributor will serve you very well & stand by their service.

I appreciate your contribution. I cannot find any local distributor, so if you can recommend anyone it will be very helpful. Thanks.

If you cost everything, you may find that living with the loss of latent heat of condensation is the optimal solution. Desiccants do not regenerate well at lower temperatures. They do have a useful life, which means consumable cost. The various air moving equipment involve maintenance and running expense not to mention space.

If you can do a comparative analysis a better picture may emerge.

Look into the websites www.bkengineeering.in or www.batenterprise.it and make an inquiry. They make special purpose machinery and may be able to help you.
