Forged Materials

Hi guys, Can anyone tell me what is the difference between raw bar forged, raw forge shape and raw bar round i really confuse with the customer requirement on the material.

hope someone can help me. thanks!

DEAR SIR,

YES, IT IS CONFUSING. I THINK 'RAW FORGED BAR' IUNDERSTAND CUSTOMER REQUR BAR FORGED/ROLLED OUT OF LARGE SIZE INGOT , ' RAW FORGED' MAY BE OPEN FORGED , 'RAW BAR ROUND' MAY BE ROLLED FROM EITHER CONCAST OR INGOT. WHAT TYPE OF STEEL IT IS REQUIRED. IS IT LARGE DIAMETERS AND LENGTH.

Raw bar forged is a bar that has been forged to a standard size (2" dia, 2x4, etc). This is intended for secondary machining operations. (turning, milling) The raw forge shape is a non-standard shape or size that is forged to the approximate dimensions of the finished product. Think of a cylinder for a steam engine. This also requires secondary machining operations. The last is a bar forged to final dimensions. The above descriptions are just my thinking on the subject. The terms you use are not the same as the ones used in the U.S. Please refer to the following link for better information.
