Changing the Boot Badge on a 645ci 2004?

09/24/2009 2:58 PM

Has anyone tried changing the boot badge which acts as a boot opening button on the vehicle. The lacquer and paint is such rubbish it has worn off the emblem and looks tired so new one has arrived (two pins on the rear)but before I make a goof any tips? Thanks Martin

If it is the same as the us built BMWs the two pins are held by 2 plastic retainers that are pushed into the body. If you do not have new retainers, you should pick them up. It would really piss you off to have that new badge come lose ans chip the paint on the car. The method I have seen used is to take a roll of masking tape, and put about three layers right next to the badge in 4 spots. Then take a small flat bladed screwdriver and pry between the badge and the tape. VERY carefully. Good luck.
