In Case of Emergency, Break Glass

10/01/2009 4:41 PM

I am a buyer for a company that makes the interiors for transit cars.

I have been unable to locate a company that is certfied to make access systems for emergency equipment.

I am looking for two options

1) A pull ring that would release a gasket around a lexan window, allowing it to fall away. Then a person could then access an axe, fire extinguisher, first aide kit, etc...

2) A company that specializes in custom emergency glass. You know the old stand by"In case of emergency,Break Glass". I see it everywhere, don't know who produces it.

I know my request is a little out there, but hey it can't hurt!

Has anyone ever delt with emergency access systems?

Thank you - Buyer looking to bail out her favorite engineer-Kbirdnest

I'd contact J L Industries in Ft Meyers, FL. They make fire extinguisher cabinets, but maybe do what you want or know who does.

My deepest thanks to you! I will have to tell my Engineer Friend what a helpful tool this forum is. I only hope that I will be able to return the favor someday.

I have a catalog from Larsen's Manufacturing Co. They also manufacture fire extinguisher cabinets and related equipment. They have locations in Minneapolis MN and Ft. Lauderdale. The two numbers I have are 612-571-1181 in MN. and 954-486-3325 in FLA. Good luck, the catalog is old and there may have been changes.
