Yes bigman..

the initial setting time of concrete depends on the type and ratios of contents, water, aggregates etc.. without leaving behind weather conditions..temperatures,humidity etc..,offcoarse we have some other factors like mixing quality, admixtures etc..so with your question I think many factors has to be considered or rather if u will be more specific on the condtions depending on where you are..

thanks...

i think the most important thing that you must consider is the mixture of your concrete if you have some admix on it it will affect your setting time with respect to humidity and weather. if you have ready mix concrete you can ask the supplies for the design concrete setting.

Greetings ~

I have done / and had done my share of work with concrete, in several different applications ... and, in just a "few" (short) years have forgotten every single detail about the slump tests, working time, etc.

But, it's easy enough to look-up the answers you want...!

Does this help <(link)... or, maybe this perhaps...?

As post 1 asked, what application are you working on, with what grade of concrete etc, and in what locale...? Posting some details might elicit additional input.

Cheers!

Time starts when the dry cement touches water. With "normal" portland cement concrete, you can expect at least an hour to mix, transport, place, and screed it before any initial set occurs.

But:

Heat and many other factors could accelerate that.

Best solution involves a small test batch which could be part of the total volume. Use identical ingredients and methods, mix at least a half cubic yard, and observe carefully what happens.
