im not even going to check wiki. I'd like to ask about what we commonly refer to as paint. Obviously it consists of a pigment and something to make the pigment spread and adhere, possibly a vehicle that eventually evaporates.
But what is the difference between acrylic laquer and acrylic enamel? Wasn't laquer originally from laquer trees? Is nitrocellulose a vehicle that evaporates? Oil based paint. Is that originally lindseed oil or mineral spirits?
As you can see i'm not talking about space-age coatings. i'm just asking about paint. But where do you go for the chemical education? I could tell you an optimum PWM output range for a micro-controlled system, but i wanna be able to look at something, wood or steel, flexible, or rigid, and know what kind of paint to use and why.
Thanks in advance!
