BZT (Barium Zirconate Titanate) Source

10/07/2009 5:18 PM

Greetings,

I would like to purchase a small quantity of BZT powder for a little R&D work. Does anyone know of a source for this material?

Thanks in advance

All roads lead eventually to Google.

(When all else fails, and after you've spent a great deal of time asking questions on several web site forums, it is suggested that you consult a search engine, such as Google)

Thanks for the Barium Zirconate links, but I'm looking for the specialty ferromagnetic Barium Zirconate Titanate (Ba(Zr,Ti)O3) ceramic. I don't have the equipment to make it myself, but it would be really useful in one of my current R&D projects.

(see http://www.nseresearch.org/2008/overviews/0709293_Meletis.doc for an example of the literature on these sorts of materials.)

No, it is not. (because there is no titanate)

No Titanate? Your google road didn't take you too far. Try this

http://www.nseresearch.org/2008/overviews/0709293_Meletis.doc

Google can be a little limited when it comes to specialty materials science.

Hi GKC,

You misunderstand me. I was replying to Poster #1 (Guest), not you. He found you Barium Zirconate. What I was telling him was that it wasn't the same, because it was just that and not the titanate.

If you look at the upper right corner of each post, it gives you the post number and which post number you are replying to. But note that #1 is NOT the original post (OP) as you might expect, but the first reply to the OP.

I was thinking that it could be named differently and searched for Barium Titanium Zirconate and got this:

http://www.google.com/search?rls=ig&hl=en&source=hp&q=%2B%22barium+titanium+zirconate%22&aq=f&oq=&aqi=

I bet this is what you're looking for!

Mike

Yes, I'm familiar with that paper. I know how to synthesize BZT (through a couple of methods), but I don't have ready access to the equipment and materials to make my own. I appreciate the thought. I was hopeing someone would know of an established commercial source that my googling hadn't turned up. I suppose my next step is soliciting the services of a university lab or a commercial ceramic company's lab. For the economics of the situation, I was hoping for the aforementioned commercial source.

Thanks for the time you put into this.
