Pump Terminology And Pump Curves

10/18/2009 11:57 AM

Pumping applications are by far the biggest market for variable speed drives. Understanding the relationship between a variable speed drive and a pump can go a long way to a successful and trouble-free pump system installation. In a series of four, short programmes, ABB's Geoff Brown unravels some of the mysteries surrounding the basics of pump terminology and pump curves. To watch the programmes, click on the ABB logo above. It will take you to the next page where you can register.

I went there and registered, but never found anything constructive.

As some of our posters are entry level or students, it was designed for them especially.

Amazing how much worth that can be found in basic posts.

This is why I did not post it with the question about Centrifugal Pump Impellers.

All of that hardcore documentation would probably discourage a lot of people, especially the electrical/electronic segment.

The link came from World Pumps weekly on line newsletter.

Thanks, I meant that I couldn't find the pump "primer" series either. Maybe it's just me. You are right that it's a complex subject.

Couldn't resist the play on words.

Cheers.

Nice little clips, explains a bit more than I knew about the published curves.

Am I wrong, but it seems to me that the blades on the impellorors in the animations are the curved the wrong way?
