Grenhouse Gases

10/29/2009 9:06 AM

I would like to know the amount of the emission of the gases for the atmosphere, that they don't return to the soil and the waters in the form of natural atmospheric cycles. In an explicit way, i refer to the gases CO, CO2, CH4, NOx (gases with nitrogen) and SOx (gases with sulfur) causes of the "Greenhouse effect". I Ask the percentile average of the sum of the gases in tonnage (not in volume) emitted in the following order:

1 - NATURAL EMISSION GASES:

Gases that escape from natural process, like: volcanos, breath and flatulence from animals, inclusive humans, plants and generic organic decomposition, others. Answer: ...........%

2 - GASES EMITTED FROM THE HUMANS ACTIVITIES:

2-1 Gases from thermal plants for electric power generation. Answer: .......%

2-2 Gases from motors the combustion is diesel, gasoline, alcohol, other. Answer: ...%

2-3 Sum of industrial gases emitted by minerals plants, petrol and chemical plants,

metallurgies , ceramics, glasses, foods and drunk, nay other ones. Answer: .......%

2-4 Any other eventual sources of emission of gases that complete the requested

Amount of 100% . Answer: .......%

It is obvious, the amount 1 + 2 would be = 100%

Please, it´s not relevant considerations about biological, physics, or chemistries causes of the emissions of the respectives gases.

You ask a very good question but I'm not sure if this can be known. The earth is much to large to be able to quantify the volume of natural gas generation of so many random sources. I would not be surprised that many people have calculated an estimate by making a lot of assumptions and then doing the math, but one would certainly have to consider the derived result as nothing more than a good faith guess. What people have done though instead of calculating and predicting gas concentrations is measure old trapped atmospheric gasses found in a variety of places and media to see what has happened over the years.

Thanks redfred. Besides another kinds of measure, at last 20 years, people of all countries wrote and said a lot of worse things about "Greenhouse Effect" Sure, it is a very hard job to figure out how much the mass amount of "natural gasses" is greater than "industrial gasses"? Perhaps, "natural gasses" is smaller than industrial gasses? We must have a approach idea about this planet essential numbers. Otherwise, if we will go to Copenhagen Climate Conference, at December 2.009 and once more time nothing learn about practical ideas and engineering projects i am afraid that my sons can not live enough to undertand what kind of hell planet we are letf to then. Regards. Fernando

You are very welcome. Fernando.

Every generation since the beginning of recorded history has at some point both lamented the world given to them by their elders, and felt pity for the mess left for their young. Being human, we've all made mistakes along the way. For the most part those mistakes were just honest mistakes. We've done the best we could with the cards given us. Your sons will struggle with the consequences of our good intentions. But in the struggle is the essence of life.

Take care.
