The water for hydro-test is usually specified by the purchaser.

Usual restrictions are on Chlorides and MICs

- refer Norsok L-CR-004 clause 9.3 or

Hydrostatic test Water management GuideLine Clauses 3.1 and 4.0 and Table 4.1

where there is mention of additives in water (in cl 4.0)

Or check APIs :

API 560 (Fired Heater) , API RP573 (Fired Boiler and Heater) , API 650 (Storage Tank), API 660 (Shell & Tube Heat Exch), API 661 (Air Cooled Heat Exch) etc.
