Manufacturers of 50kV coaxial cable Silicone coated and connectors

10/31/2009 11:46 PM

Hello

I am looking for Silicone coated coaxial cables for 50kV application. Problem I am facing now is high leakage current in PTFE cables even for 20kV in 15 ft cable up to 100uA. I want to bring down the leakage current to about <10uA in 15ft coaxial cable for 20kV to 40kV range applied voltages.

If you have any experience with high voltage co-axial cables them you may try to suggest something useful here.

I am also looking for suitable coaxial cable connector, bulkhead and cable assemblies for 20kV, 30kV, 40kV and 50kV corona free applications.

If anyone has used Reynolds Teledyne cables or is making an assembly of such cables with high voltage connectors then I will like to get few cables immediately for testing in length of 15 ft. and 20kV to 30kV range DC HV application.

Why do you want Silicone coated coaxial cables?

Teflon coaxial cable are probably best for low leakage.

The DC rating is MUCH higher than the AC rating. You will probably have to test the coaxial cable to determine it's DC rating.

I have PTFE cables with 3mm insulation (6mm diameter), but they show high corona leakage at 20kV. Spellman suggested Polyethylene cables with Silicon coating and it is not only for insulation but for creating some short of field gradient near the inner conductor. I am yet to understand what they mean by this but this is what they say.
