How and why Discs are secured against viruses but not in flash drives?

Compact Discs are not secure against viruses. Compact Discs are too complicated to create for viruses to take interest in using them for travel. Flash drives are easy to read and write to and are already traveling. Microsoft's feeble attempt to prevent autorun on flash drives failed.

It is the users prerogative to flaunt safety or not.

You need to scan your disks and flash drives to make sure they are OK!
