Unit Conversion Humor

11/12/2009 4:38 PM

So, in the spirit of starting the week's end with a little bit of technical humor, I present to you some rarely used unit conversions:

Disclaimer - Not original author, just thought they were funny. And I'm sure they are more than a few years old, just found them while going though boxes whilts moving back into my office.

Ratio of an igloo's circumference to its diameter = Eskimo Pi

time it takes to sail 220 yards at 1 nautical mile per hour = 1 knotfurlong

weight an evangelist carries with God = 1 billigram

1,000,000 aches = 1 megahurtz

453.6 gramcrackers = 1 pound cake

1 million bicycles = 1 megacycles

2000 mockingbirds - 2 kilomockingbirds

52 cards = 1 deckacards

1 millionth of a mouthwash = 1 microscope

2000 pounds of Chinese soup = 1 Won ton

2.4 statute miles of intravenous surgical tubing at Yale University Hospital = 1 I.V. League

1 million microphones = 1 megaphone

1 millionth of a fish = 1 microfiche

365.25 days of drinking low calorie beer = 1 Lite year

1,000,000 bites = 1 microchip

8 nickels = 2 paradigms

16.5 feet in the Twilight Zone = 1 Rod Serling

1 kilogram of falling figs = 1 fig Newton

1000 grams of wet socks = 1 literhosen

Time between slipping on a banana peel and hitting the pavement = 1 bananosecond

Half a large intestine = 1 semicolon

basic unit of laryngitis = 1 hoarsepower

Have a great Friday, and an even Greater weekend,

JavaHead

1 million microphones = 1 megaphone

Surely
1 million microphones = 1 phone
You would need 1000 billion microphones to make one megaphone

This still doesn't answer the question that has plagued me for the forty years that I have worked in the tool room. How many Dytes in a C-Hair?

Sorry, don't know that one. Neither do I know:

How much C could a C+ plus, if a C+ could plus C?

One more correction:

"1,000,000 bites = 1 microchip"

That might be:

1/1,000,000 of a byte = 1 microchip

Thanks and happy Friday the 13th!

true, but I think the original author was more focused on his spelling of 'bites' in reference to chips... he must of had the munchies.

The answer is "1"
