Allowable Stress per ASME Addendum

11/19/2009 2:43 AM

Dear Elites..

Allowable Stress for A 537 Class 2 and 516 grade 70 (ASME II 2007 add 2008)

I have ASME II 2007, but without addendum 2008. So that i can not find table 5A to determine allowable stress for carbon steel & low alloy carbon steel.

The material: A537 class 2 and A516 grade 70.

Could you please help me what is the allowable stress for those materials at 150-200 F.

Thank you very much..

For process or power piping,to get Allowable stress for diff.material you can use ASME B31.3 or 31.1 respt. For A 516 Gr 70 ,in ASME B31.1 you refer Appendix-A Table A-1.tepmerature range-20 to 650F.

SA516 Gr 70 @ 150F = 23.8 ksi ; @200F = 23.2 ksi

SA537 Class 2 @150F & 200F = 33.3 ksi.
