In energy management system SCADA measurement will be real time, to continuously detect the power load flow, rate ampere, rate voltage & any disturbance (using disturbance recorder or usually the IEC bay controller has failure recorder).

This will be use for :

1. the load shedding (base on comparison between utility or generator supply with load demand)

2. EMS can record failure, and doing analisys to solve or know how the failure occur (EMS analisys software)

3. protection & breaker operation control

4. real time Load Flow

5. metering (active & reactive power, Ampere and voltage)

In my plant we use EMS to doing load sharing this will be comparing between utility & generator supply & load demand. (the ems communicate with generator control (woodward EGCP3))

this is to maintain the wanted (setpoint) import power value (buyed) from utility (National Electricity company)
