Motors used in hydro and tidal plants

What kind of motors are used in hydro power plants and in tidal power plants?

Motors or alternators?

Motors any where will be depending on where - It may be induction motors (usual auxiliary drives), servo motors (controls)

Alternators are alternators.

There are rather more alternators used than there are motors!
