yes, the market is full of them. They are called night vision or thermal vision, starlight scope etc, and they come in a number of levels of tech sophistication called first, second, third and fourth generation.

Can you build one? I doubt i, they are very high tech.

Can you buy one? try Ebay or craigslist. First generation = cheapest.

Make sure you see it working. For this craigslist is best.

Why not use night vision goggles and phosphorous glow dots on gun sights.

bad idea to use as scope, reason the glow from screen would light up your face or the screens glow would give a way were you are at.

another use of night vision is your team could use infrared led tags as a friend or foe.

night vision goggles can be found in some types of children toys on up to military surplus.

I tend to agree with metalSmiths on this one, after having used several generations of night vision goggles in the Army. Frankly, you would be better served by using night vision goggles instead of a screen type. MetalSmiths is very correct in saying that by using the screen type the "enemy" will see the glow emanating from the screen or eyepiece on your face......you'll end up an easily located target in a night-time game. One thing to keep in mind with NVG's is that you'll have a very limited field of view, somewhat like "tunnel vision" that could grossly effect your game-playing capability!

Be prepared to pay thousands of dollars for 3rd and 4th Gen NVG's and several hundreds of dollars for earlier Gens, even if they are military surplus. Of course you could try to purchase former Soviet made NVG's for your game playing, but be forewarned that their quality is limited and you may find it very difficult to get them serviced should they fail. Also, you may find it very difficult to find spare batteries and parts for the Soviet surplus NVG's!

Honestly, try to find to go the civilian Infrared route and save yourself (and your gaming buddies) a whole ton of money and equipment headaches.....leave the NVG's to the heavy weight contenders in this world, the REAL Professional Soldier!
