Acid Recovery of Spent Pickle Liquor

I use a vacuum pump to remove the water in the acid. Whatever was held in suspension by the acid will fall out as a sludge or formed material. Then pour off the acid. I have used this technique for acid used in mining, electronic circuit processing and in various lab apps. Watch your vac discharge Ph to know when to quit.

Why????Do you believe in perpetual chemical activity?

Once the % of iron gets above say 7%, you can add fresh acid all day to the bath and it won't remove scale, because the high iron content will prevent it from working. Proper question would be what salts can i generate from this and how else can i use acid to neutralize alkaline waste somewhere else and solve two problems at once. Actually It may be 8%, I'm in Orlando at a conference and I dont have my notes and its been 16 years since we ran pickle lines - we replaced them with shot blasters.
