Ultrasonic examination acceptance standards shall be in accordance with the applicable design code.

as that shown, what is the meaning of the applicable, is that meaning relevant or suitable ?

"in accordance with the applicable design code" means the UT testing standards will fall inline with what ever AWS code your designing with. example AWS D1.1 ...

The acceptance criteria is based on the construction codes.

i.e. If you've evaluating Pressure Vessels, you'll have to use the acceptance criteria stated in ASME Section VIII Div. 1.

For Process Piping, ASME B31.3

Structures, AWS D1.1
