How do I manufacture a sponge rubber seal for a air filter? I need to know what kind of rubber can be used and formulation? specify the methods of production sequence.
You go to your nearest hardware store and find some of that foam rubber tape they make for sealing around doors and windows.
Cut it, fit it, peal it, and stick it.

Well you must know how to define your problems with better clarity. If you are manufacturing an (1) air filter then this is a prototype production. Prototype production of the seal of an air filter can be done with rubber cement, duct tape, chewing gum, electrical tape or whatever other material is readily available. For larger manufacturing quantities, you will have to investigate the anticipated pressure differentials that you will encounter with your filter, quality of the seal provided, anticipated lifetime of usage, contaminants expected to name just a few of the concerns on the air filter seal design. Next you must do a study of the possible materials that will meet these criteria. Likely you will find that some of these materials will be better than others in some categories and that some will have enviormental concerns while curing. Depending on which material you have now chosen, you must now build or locate a plant to fabricate this filter.
Better yet, you could start doing your own research paper sooner than the week that it is due.
