Nitrile Rubber Sleeves Cutting

06/21/2011 1:33 PM

I need to cut nitrile rubber sleeves of od 70 mm and 85 mm diameter with a wall thickness of 2.2mm,3.5 mm etc on a lathe type small machine. The sleeve is held on the bore with a wooden mandrel which rotates.I am looking for suitable blades which will be fitted to the tool post and gives good result in terms of production and finish with 0.3 tolerance on thickness after cutting.

We use a tool that utilizes a box cutter blade with good results. See photos.
