Can We Use LTCS (P1 Through P11 Materials) Welders for SS (P8 Materials)?

Dear sir,

A welder qualified in LTCS(P1 through P11) for the following parameters;

Pipe Diameter range :1'' and above & thickness is 10.8mm Maximum

Position : All for GTAW Process and for F number is 6 & A number is 8.

Can we use this welder for SS welding of A312 TP304L pipes for F6 & A number 8 & the Pipe diameter is 1'' above for the wall thickness 7.11 mm.

Position: All for GTAW Process.

This may depend on local welding qualification requirements. My experience is limited, but from what I have seen, separate P groups need to have separate qualification tests. However, if your process is GTAW in all cases, then conceivably your local standards would allow for qualification in some P groups to be accepted for other P groups. I apologize that this is only a speculative answer. Please review the regulations in your jurisdiction.
