Polling Station

09/02/2011 1:36 AM

I have read that power generated will be evacuated through a 'pooling station' of 220 kV. From there 220 kV double circuit line will commence. what is pooling station here? Also, what is trashtrack with M/C in case of hydroelectric project?

Regards,

sks

A polling station is a place where people go to vote.

A pooling station, in a hydro context, would parallel (pool) the output of several generators onto a single bus for further transmission.

Guessing only, I suspect trashtrack = wasteway = discharge of water downstream of turbine(s). The term M/C is unfamiliar.

Tornado gave you the first half.

"Trashtrack" is not standard terminology for a hydroelectric plant. A trashRACK is a screen (usually vertical metal bars) which prevents debris from entering the turbine. A trashRAKE is a powered device for removing debris from trashracks. Some rakes are motor driven, so M/C may be motor controller. Without more context it's difficult to say with certainty.
