Outlook 2010: How to Make It Remember Last Folder

09/16/2011 7:28 AM

Hello fellow CR4ers. I'm hoping someone can help me before I punch my monitor.

I've just been upgraded to Outlook 2010 and have been saving some emails to project files. No problem, you might think, except...

In Outlook 2003, when you saved an email, you navigated through to the required directory (which is NEVER My Documents) and faffed with the filename and hit save. Then when you saved the next email, it took you to the same folder and life was great.

Outlook 2010 takes you to My Document every time, for every email and every attachment. I am making 6 or 7 clicks to get through to the required directory - and that's shorter than it might be as I have shortcuts to the top (and some lower) levels of the proect folders.

Where/How do I tell this recalcitrant program to quit wasting my time and to just go to the last folder I chose?

Please help me - I think I might be getting RSI!!!

An appropriate link.

Can you help how to make Windows7 to remember the folder to save a file in customed folders instead of Problematic "Lib..." which does not leave even if I save 100 pictures in one session

Change the default file location:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/set-or-rename-a-default-working-folder-HA101907414.aspx

make the change to which ever program you are working in....

Thanks for the reply, but neither of those answer my question.

The problem is not the same as OldPoops...my Outlook folders work ok. The problem I have is when I save the messages in ~.msg format into (for example) R:\Shared\MyDepartment\Project123\Kit so that they are a) archived and b) available for everyone to read.

There's a limit to what I can reset as this is a work PC.
