Waste Heat Recovery

Dear all

hybrid power system for BASE TRANSCEIVER STATIONS POWER FEEDING :

variable speed dc diesel generator + PV solar power system + wind energy + waste heat recovery.

actual plan system : dc diesel generator will take a portion at 75 % power source.

(ROI reasons and limited by available land for PV panel).

.

for the power system, the land limited only at 9m².

.

and i will try to make all system to reach at full efficiency.

and i go focused to diesel generator work efficiency. because they at 75% utility.

at diesel generator i have plan will use :

  1. small turbine at muffler
  2. the heat exchanger i will use thermoelectric generator
  3. air intake use oxygen generator

is that my plan will reduce fuel consumption at diesel generator ...? consider to charge discharge timing of diesel time to battery will reduce, because the output power from small turbine and thermoelectric generator help charge power to battery bank.

and is this will make overall efficiency of the system will rise up ....?

is that plan feasible enough ....?

1. Any device that restricts the flow of exhaust also increases the back pressure of the exhaust, which ultimately decreases fuel efficiency. This has been thought of time and time again, I have never heard of anything that TRULY does not end up costing more than it saves.

2. See above. In order to extract the heat from the exhaust, a heat exchanger ends up adding flow restriction.

3. I had never heard of that concept, I went to the linked page and it stinks to high heavens of a scam. On the one hand they talk about their unit being an ozone generator, then they talk about the dangers of ozone? I don't get it. It reeks of obfuscation, a very common tool of a scammer.

I think your basic concept is laudable, I don't thing these solutions will get you there.

Agreed, you will likely end up wasting more fuel than you will save, and even if you don't the small fuel savings won't be able to pay for the waste heat recovery equipment. This is a common problem with ideas such as this which have been tried to death for decades - the cost/benefit analysis fails every time.

Additionally appliedozone.com looks like a scam (or at the very least pseudoscience).

Ignoring cost and concentrating on getting something to work in a small area, diesel generator + solar + wind + battery backup is a good (if not expensive) option. Adding batteries should extend the run time and/or reduce diesel consumption which will minimise time between diesel refills (especially important if this site is remote).

Consider placing the batteries in an underground enclosure or vault to maximise available space, and minimising any electrical loads (where practical).
