Impression Mark on Sheet Metal

12/13/2011 6:46 AM

Dear Sir,

Can you support me for getting following information.

We are the manufacturer if heater and condensor coils,

We have a leak test process of condensor coils to find out the leaks in the coils,

As it is a manually checking method by our operators there is a chances of leak miss and it may goes to customer.

To give the avareness to our operators and to traceback who has done the leaktest coils we need to make the impressions of the operators numbers in the coils(impression should be marked in the sheet metal endplate of coils).

We have tried by using paint markers but we dint succeed.

We need the immpression in such a way that it should be permanent in the coil like punching numbers etc.

If it is gun type punching impression would be the better,

Can you pl support me where i can get it,

Regards

RAJESH

Dear Sir,

Thanks for your comments

For continious mass production low strees stamp may be difficult to introduce due to time constraints, and sheet may get bend during punching

We need to provide separate manpower to do this\ activity

We need in such a way that it has to operate by gun like pnumatic operated screw tightening gun.

a hand held dot peen marker would work. they are portable and programmable for either characters or symbols.

I think Ti QE has the right idea.

I have just finalised purchase of a 2D programmable dot matrix printed exactly meeting your requirements considerably inexpensive than laser marking.

Send me a mail through CR4 and I will help you further with cost and out put details and the source in India for buying the machine.

Even with the best stamping method, you are not solving the problem. Your worker still can make the mistake and the customer still received faulty coil. You may have to use Poka Yoke principle to make sure the fail or leaking coil will not be released to customer.

One of the idea is the test machine should not release the fail unit until the worker or team leader acknowledge and record or destroy the faulty unit

"to traceback who has done the leaktest coils we need to make the impressions of the operators numbers in the coils"

GA to FW. This excercise is to find fault with the perticular operater which has no any relevance for customer. The system shall be such as that faulty product is not delivered to customers. After leak test why not introduce a pressure hold test for few minutes?
