When is Aluminum the Optimum Choice For a Die Cast Part?

01/17/2012 1:36 AM

Aluminum die casting alloys have a specific gravity of approximately 2.7 g/cc, placing them among the lightweight structural metals. The majority of die castings produced worldwide are made from aluminum alloys, with good corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties. Aluminum die castings offer high dimensional stability, thermal and electrical conductivity, and strength at high temperatures. Aluminum 380 alloy is the most widely used of the Al die casting alloys, offering the best combination of properties and ease of production. For detailed information on Aluminum Alloy Properties, die casting, and post-casting characteristics.

look here.

Really how hard is it to look up with Google? Now if you have a specific question then ask it. OK?

The OP 'endurance' seems to be a company rather than a person if you look at the profile. Endurance Group, among other things, produce aluminium die castings so this post seems to be an attempt to promote their products.

For a company who claims to be, "Largest aluminum casting manufacturer in India" your offerings/questions here would lead one to believe that this company knows absolutely nothing about casting aluminum.

I'd change my advertising tactics, and be sure to place them in the commercial section.

Do you work in the marketing department?

Good catch Nigh.

Sorry endurance, this answer is not for you (you don't seem to really need it), but for anyone else checking this thread for an answer.

In my experience, most volume die casting is done in zinc, not aluminum, for cost and manufacturability. Generally, we only use aluminum when lighter weight or better thermal and/or electrical conductivity are required for the application.
