Hi,

Not enough information. A socket usually joins two pipes together, an adaptor can be any number of things, Elbow, Tee, Bush, Nipple, Reducer, the list goes on and on.

Best regards,

John

This might be helpful.

(Your terms are non-standard and unclear.)

A socket invites a socket weld. In plastic pipe this is called a female slip connection.

An adapter changes the means or size of connection.

An adapter might change a connection from threaded (at one end) to socket weld or butt weld at the other. Or, in the case of plastic pipe, from slip to threaded or the reverse - from threaded to slip.

GA Baffled. A nice answer for the baffling question from a female OP. A little more to add on to your nice comment:

"Which help to adopt other size or type or rating can be called an Adopter." The most common adopter in use by everyone is charging device for rechargeable batteries of mobiles and other gadgets which uses 220/110 V mains for charging 6/9/12 V batteries.

Socket is a female fitting in which same size of pipe is inserted and socket joint of the pipe is welded but to join smaller size of pipe in the bigger size of socket, a ready made fitting is used which is called adopter. Adopter will be welded to socket leading a socket joint but the next joint (in adopter) may be a weld joint or threaded joint as per need.
