Inter-Connection Of System And Grid Earthing

03/07/2012 10:11 AM

I would like to know why the neutral point of the transformer is not connected to the grid and so that we will have one common earthing in the system for all the transformer neutral and grid electrically connected .

It should be bonded to the internal electrical system grounding. By grid are you referring to the primary distribution system grid?

I presume that you have mentioned earthing grid to be connected with neutral earthing pits.

Grounding & Earthing is both different concept as grounding is done with live part & Earthing is for human safety non live parts. again it can be said that ultimately both purpose is same. looking on fault point of view & operation of resticted earth fault relay, merging of grid with neutral grounding may not be allowed.

Why not? In fact, it MUST be connected to the grid.
