What kind of stain?

Barkeeper's Friend is supposed to be good on rust stains, it contains oxalic acid and isn't too abrasive.

Soft Scrub has bleach and is pretty good on other stains, and isn't too abrasive.

Baking soda and vinegar will just react together to produce sodium acetate, water and carbon dioxide.

Try using them individually instead, starting with the vinegar.

The other thing one might do is break it up and get rid of it. There used to be a thread on CR4 on just this topic. It doesn't seem to be there at the moment....

This sounds like a que for a good long running topic. Fibre glass is a bit more resilient to impact.

If you have "Hard Water" and mineral stains on the tub surface use a product called "Lime-A-Way", or similar product. Use some effective "elbow grease" too.....

For general cleaning of other stains use a product named "Krud Kutter". You can buy it in Lowe's or Home Depot...
