You didn't get anything like this?:

... the red "O"s bounce down the screen, shattering whatever they touch.

Nope. I get...

[Rats! My screenshot doesn't want to paste.]

Nope, that's not what I get. Look sort of cool, though.

I don't get it every time - it's a bit hit'n'miss. Seems most reliable if I open a new tab.

I've tried it a few more times, different approach each time... Nope.

Now we know Doorman's a computer dope. He can't even get an Easter Egg to work.

[edit] Mizuti, thanks for the image in #10. I would never have been able to see it!

Here's something about it in the Mail Online.

"You have to search from the Google home page to make the 'trick' work, and it may not work in mobile browsers or some desktop browsers."

I like when google integrates neat little "easter egg" things to find and do on their site.
Some more fun stuff can be found here:

I'm personally a fan of "do a barrel roll"

Also, have you tried letting it go after you've lost? The letters go ahead and form the phrase "GG" which is something you usually declare after you've won "Good Game".

Kind of Clever

(For those that can't see it.. not pointing fingers ):

Clever indeed!

While you're here (wearing your Admin badge an' all) - can you tell me why this bit of fun got shoved off the front page within seconds of being posted? After all, it's an example of a remarkable piece of software engineering.

When looking over the more recent threads, the rule of thumb is to remember that this post will appear in the Daily Digest, so we typically look to take the shorter posts that don't have a lot of meat on them off the front page.

The moderator in the morning might not have thought it had enough "meat and potatoes" to it to stay on the front page. Maybe if it had a few sentences describing it, or leading up to it? You could even spin it as a neat little programming bit that google has done to keep its users entertained

I left an easter egg in a PC board that I designed a while back. Not an easy one to get to though and I haven't heard of anyone who has uncovered it yet.

The board had an array of LED's that were intended as a sort of map to indicate test tubes in a rack. Normally it would help a user track tubes that had been processed vs. those not processed. Outside of it's case, the board was simply an array of LED's. It didn't take much to make it display messages or simple drawings. After showing the marketing guys that I could do that, they asked me to display the company logo on it at startup.

That was cool, but I had to slip in an easter egg as well. If someone sends a particular command to the board, it will display the message, "Help, need beer!"

Anyone else ever slip in an easter egg?
