Flash Scan Network Protocol

any one knows about FLASH SCAN network protocol?

Where and why it is used? Any source of detail about same?

FlashScan is the proprietary communication protocol used by the Notifier brand of fire alarm control systems. It is not used anywhere else.

Flashscan allows hundreds of devices (4-20 ma input modules, relays, thermal and smoke detectors, suppression system releasing modules, etc.) to be connected to a single pair of wires. The control system can then, using the Flashscan protocol, receive information from, and send commands to this equipment.

What do you think about Eclipse? is it the newest to Flashscan and Clip?

I wonder what type of signal supported by Eclipse, analogue , digital, modulated, pulse trailing and what speed of signal transmision, Radio signal range say 200KHz?

No. The latest Notifier SLC protocol is Flashscan.

What is the type of signal supported by Flashscan? Is it digital, Analogue and at what speed you think?

Flashscan is a digital parallel protocal. Information is transmitted as 10 digital, simultaneous channels. This will make for a very fast protocol don't you think.

Actual specifics are considered manufacturer confidential.

Digital, simultanious channels make a very fast and reliable protocol indeed. But prone to false alarm if wiring is not selected properly. Would 50 ohm radio cable, or cat 5 cable do the job?

No. Do not use either.

Use type FPL cable which has a characteristic twist.

Honeywell Fire Alarm Control Panel model TLC3000 utilises flashscan protocol. Is that right?

Honeywell purchased the Notifier Corporation some years ago. The panels Honeywell sells are designed and manufactured by Notifier. Notifier also private labels and sells their panels to Chemetron, Ansul, Tyco, and many other companies. They are all, however, Notifier panels.
