Using my amazing powers of deduction, I have concluded that you have a bad battery.

Get it replaced if the computer is still under warranty.

Buy a new battery if it is not still under warranty.

Then go on the internet and find a site that will tutor you in proper battery maintenance.

Do not ask the question on this forum. You will be bombarded by all manner of "best/correct/the only/favorite/all others are wrong" ways to solve it.

Good luck.

I was going to suggest the same thing! If under warranty HP should not have any problem replacing the battery.

yah...its that correct to replace that battery but you still have a problem of BSOD.The trouble is not only centered on that battery you need to dismantle the loptop and check whither the exhaust fan is working more than 4000 rpm.And clean the mobo...

My random guess is that you have a defective battery. Have you tried HP customer support? We are not HP customer support.

Ok Sir Farhan.I have ample experience in troubleshooting loptop. And I encounter before a hp pavilion. The problem of your loptop not centered in battery problem. But of course, maybe it is the one of the problem. But if you observed that if you turn on your loptop not using your AC adapter it will turn off in a moment of time because.Because your battery is drain.Drain terms on the battery cells cannot hold now the exact amperage of the battery pack. So, in this condition of your loptop it will cause damage to your operating system.Damage means corrupt to your operating system which is windows.

Blue screen you mention is BSOD(Blue screen of Death) terms of the computer and loptop troubleshooter. There are many cause of this trouble mostly cause of the overheating of the processor that overmaximum of 100 degrees celcius of the computer processor.

So, what I mean when you replace your battery.Just try to observe first you battery as what I said. Then format your loptop and the very best dismantle your loptop and clean it thouroughtly. And put or apply a selicon compound above of your processor and VGA chip.So that it will hold and absorb thourought the heat of the processor. And also if your loptop have no cooling pad just buy it.It will help so much to control the heat property of your loptop. This is the major cause of error of the loptop the overheat. And clean also the exhaust fan of your loptop.Just remember if our computer hang up, restart, or it will turn off without proper shutdown it will cause damage to the operating system. And one of that is BSOD, the major cause is overheat...Goodluck dods...

He probably should make sure there is no warranty first before operating on it. Tempting as it is, I'm sure HP won't touch it if it's been taken apart!

I purchased an HP Pavillion apprx. 4 years ago. After much of the same issues arising with mine, good battery maintenance finally prevailed on my part and all is well now. However, HP acknowledged a battery issue and did a recall on many models of the Pavillion about 2 years ago. Even though they did not identify mine to be included in this band of thieves, there may very well be some "reconditioned" batteries out there making a come back. You may want to contact HP just in case.

Thanks everybody for your comments. I replaced the battery with new one but the issue remained the same. But my intel rapid storage technology software has just started to show warning for my hard disk so I am guessing its because of the hard disk but the problem becomes severe when laptop is on battery.

Is your laptop getting hot? Do you have enough ventilation under it? Have you tried or have a fan under it to cool it off? maybe the power supply inside the laptop is going bad!

Sir, Farhan as what I said when you replace a battery with that you also format your hdd, because as normal once BSOD is perform there are damage of your operating system files. And also you need to dismantle your loptop.Because one of the cause of the BSOD is also overheat of the two chips either processor and vga chips.Do not power your loptop until you could not do what I said cause it will contribute more major trouble of your loptop. And may not display until you will need to replace the board.I have encounter so many trouble and interview of our customers what they do to thier loptop. And they answer me they use thier loptop in more that 8 or 16 ours without using a cooling pad.One of the very dangerous if we use our loptop in overheating manner. Our hand is just like a fry fish...

Sounds like it has to do with your graphics driver. If you recently updated it, you could try rolling it back while running on AC. Otherwise it might help to look for an update. It might also help if you check on your power settings for when it is running on battery.

The good thing is that it should be under warrenty as others have mentioned in case it turns out to be the motherboard.

My laptop [white] was showing massive overheating even after slovenly dusting and vacuumimg, and acquiring a cooling pad. (It would get too hot to hold.) After just blaming too many add-ons,etc., as I was about to crack it open, I surrendered and got out my high velocity vac/blower and gave it the full 110% blow-out and vac-out, then did it again for good measure. Now it never even gets warm - just the exhaust air from the cooling fan. I never got the Blue Screen Of Death, but it would slow, then commit errors and finally just stop. A really good blow out is an essential first step, even if it isn't the first thing you do.

But you dismantle your loptop sir.Its better to clean all the inside/internal part so that it will normal.Because dust buildup is the cause...

If you remove your AC Power and your system crashes then it means that you could do any of the following.

1) Check your system main (DC) Battery with another one first, before you replace it completely.

2) You can also remove your CMOS battery and try cleaning it. If the CMOS battery is faulty, it could eventually make your processor faulty and eventually make your board bad.

3) You can also try repairing your OS with your OS CD but instead of reinstalling, you'll repair. Just follow the options to repair and since you can read english it shouldnt be difficult for you
