The volume of gas you require depends on the engine and for how long you wish to run it. A small 1.5-hp four stroke would be ideal. You will then need to choose an alternator of approx 0.5 Kw and then an transformer/inverter to plug the lamp into.

Start looking at biogas-powered fuel cells.

My idea was to fit fuel cells in auditorium seats. Have the cafeteria serve "health" food such as broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts. Initial tests indicate you will need much more than a 100 watt bulb.

When I tried this on my 86 Cavalier, (I ran the intake hose to the seats), I was able to increase my MPG by 20%.

If the load were a 28W compact fluorescent bulb, rather than a 100W incandescent bulb, then the biogas plant could be much smaller.
