DC Powered 1 HP Vacuum Motor Available in Market?

Lots of car vacuum cleaners out there. Google throws up millions (pun intended). None suitable for you ?

i thought that the car vacuum cleaners run on the 12V car battery. (They are plugged into the cigarette lighter socket). So i thought they will suit you. There are some heavy duty ones out there.

"Sucking power" isn't measured in CFM.

Yes, 12v battery has enough power to run the motor, for some short period.

Figure 3-4 AMPS at 12v and run the numbers on your battery.

Think that through just a little bit.

1HP = 746W. 746/12V = 62A. Think of the size of the conductors necessary to handle 62A, then think of whether or not it would be practical to hold that vacuum. And you are not going to get 62A out of a cigarette lighter socket.

What is your power source and what are you planning to do? Don't keep making us guess or pull it out of you if you want help. Be descriptive or I for one am done.

Actually I like to modify this Dust Collector, By Central Machinery , distribute by Harbor freight, model no 94029 which operate by AC 120V 60Hz 1 HP to DC 12V or 18V Li-Cd Rechargeable battery.

I have to modify & take out the AC motor & replace with DC motor with the Battery powered. I will be using outdoor where there are no electric power supply.

Not only a good idea, but maybe less expensive, too.

Thanks for advise given to 1kW inverter but unfortunately , my Management didn't approve that idea as safety reason for workers that will using this Electric Vaccum Motor. We still want a 1 HP DC Motor with long run 12V rechargeable battery.

Just introduce about my project that we will using 10-20unit Vaccum Dust Collector outdoor in Logging area clearing the woods & the dust & ash & my company have do to the clean up as well.So that why I looking for this Vaccum.

My idea, is it using 12V rechargeable battery with alternater to recharge back the battery is workable?Is there any 1HP DC Motor with Alternater that will recharge back the 12V battery while the motor is running so the battery can last for few hours available in market?

Hoping for few more ideas.

Maybe a gasoline powered leaf blower could be repurposed for this. [?] I'll try to find some cfm and hp data....

The motor/alternator/battery recharging idea won't work. (Perpetual motion.)

hi tornado, tqvm for the reply. Gasoline vaccum blower not work well as we already try it before,mostly china mate where only can use as blower but not as vaccum. but if you hv any good recommendation, let me know plz! thanks

I had no luck in searching for this size of already made vacuum cleaner. If some expense and customization are acceptable, you could get a 12vdc 1hp motor for about US$300 and (maybe?) adapt it in place of the AC motor on a typical vacuum cleaner.

As noted already, a 1hp 12vdc motor draws about 60 amps. If your battery has 60 amp-hour capacity, it can run the vacuum motor for about an hour, slowing down at the end. I think that's about the size of a car battery; you'll need about #4 wiring, but I don't remember exactly.

As for the motor, you will need to compare the shaft diameter and length, and the mounting bolt pattern, with the original AC motor. There will probably need to be some modification, but this need not be impossible. I hope it can be done within your budget; good luck with the project.

Here is one from USA.DAYTON $750. Not cheap. If you are in India, you may not find it easy to import anyway. Better try Alibaba, which lists several Chinese manufacturers. Maybe you can get a whole unit (blower, vacuum cleaner, whatever you want to make) at less cost and headache than a motor alone.
